Wooooohooooo, peeps that have been jabbed norf of the border can finally get a QR code that works with the tousanticovid app for France. Plus get into countries like Norway where the paper certificate wasn’t accepted. Thumbs Up

PS S’pose it would be too much to expect it to work with the NHS (rUK) COVID pass app. Someone pls remind me what the N in NHS stands for. Rolling Eyes

we tried it out on the way down just North of Paris at a restaurant adjacent to the hotel. We used the NHS covid app, the travel requirement and then the second jab barcode. The French restaurant app recognized this instantly when scanned and we were let straight in. I initially used the 1st jab barcode and we were refused entry, then tried the 2nd barcode and it worked perfectly.

Our insurers also informed us that the "green card" would be required. It was free issue so no problem.

We have been stopped twice so far - routine document check, along with the locals who were all being pulled over. Told it was not necessary for us and waved on with a smile.
2nd time was genuinely our fault and a mistake, caught in a speed trap doing 70ish in a 50 area (kph). Pulled over, reminded and sent on our way with a smile.

Absolutely no shortages of anything here, very friendly and has been perfect so far.

Travelled over yesterday. Fairly long delay at the tunnel, just trying to get through passport control. Probably took 1.5 hours, and the car park was turned into a large waiting snake.

I’m not sure why it took so long, as it took us 30 seconds at the passport check / COVID for the french. Probably people not having the correct documentation and causing chaos.

Everyone was missing their trains, but the tunnel said they would just load everyone straight away. We ended up on a train with just 5 cars on, then once in France, we just drove off and on our way as normal.

Bit of traffic around Paris, but fast journey on the autoroutes as normal. Fuel isn’t the cheapest on the autoroutes, I think I paid 1.72 for normal diesel, but seems around 1.43 locally in the villages. Used best part of 2 tanks to get where we are, from Surrey.

Went to the local supermarket today, everyone wearing masks and shelves full.

Just about to pour a GnT and get the BBQ ready for some steaks

Well back now from our Holiday. We had a great trip away and im really glad we went.

The additional COVID measures were really minimal to be honest, with just the Antigen test required to enter the UK, and the PCR test on day 2, once back.

We did about 1500 miles in total on our trip. Fuel on the auto routes was expensive, generally around 1.65 - 1.75, but the auto routes are so good compared to the UK roads. We generally cruised at between 130 - 150 with no traffic on the roads apart from around Paris.
The Dordoyne is a lovely area and we were lucky with the weather.

Compared to the UK, there seems to be a lot more flies in France. The front and windscreen was covered after just the trip down. I had to clean the windscreen for the way back and it was hanging again by the time i got home.

Delays at the Euro Tunnel both ways, and the queuing system is poor. On the way back, we arrived at the tunnel with my sister in a different car and joined the queue together. After being split off etc in different queues, we missed our train, and they made theirs. Annoying as we were on time, and were put back 40 mins just because the queuing system was poor.

Cant think of a better vehicle to do it in than a D4.

We arrived in France on Saturday. Portsmouth to St Marlo. Minimal queuing to get out of the port, passport stamped, signed health declaration and NHS vaccination print out checked then on our way.
Duty free back on the ferry, 47% proof Gordon’s £22 for 2 litres 😀😀.

Staying at a gite owned by a British couple who pointed us to the village pharmacy for the pre-return test, called into it today and as we return on Saturday we have arranged to get tested on Thursday, 13 euros.

Since last time in France the old “give way to the right” rule has come back in on some of the small country lanes and also in some town centres where there is no white give way lines or signs.

They have also said the 80kph has been abandoned recently and it is back to 90 kph again but google maps still says 80.

Masks in shops and busy areas, anticovid app scanned in restaurants but otherwise no problems.

Enjoying the markets and beaches, cheaper wine and french cheese 👍👍.

We returned a week ago and funnily enough also noticed a dramatic increase in flies on the front of the car from France. We also covered just under 2500 miles round the Limoges area in a little over a week in the wife's x-trail. It didn't miss a beat and economy was pushing 40mpg.
Roads were clean and uncluttered, the toll system was excellent and works with a touch debit card (obviously on the passenger side).
We both speak French and really enjoyed the village markets and generally driving around sightseeing and looking at property for our big move (all going well).
The pace of life is generally far better over there, in my opinion, and the food/drink was incredible.

Only delays we hade were driving through Paris and on departure trying to get back to the UK as the multiple checks and document inspections seem to be catching the unprepared out.

Already looking forward to heading back when we are in a position to buy the dream property.

The "flies" are actually the midges normally found in Scottishireland that can't come here to work due to Brexit. Whistle
