Don't think I will bother with the chains after what has been said - where we go (Melchtal) gets some good deep snow but nothing worse than what has been outlined here. The sights I found most entertaining last year were BMW's without chains - most were parked in ditches!!!
On the subject of washer jets, my headlamp washers seem to stop functioning well before the low washer fluid warning comes on???

Guess who bought some chains yesterday!
If you don't mind me asking, which chains did you buy( Rud, Weissen....., or LR) and how much did you pay?
Cheers.
Alpe d'huez 27th Jan, 21 hairpins to climb to 1860 meters which concerns me without chains! the weather web site regularly changes from "winter driving regulations mandatory" to " Roads clear, winter equipement required within the resort itself." obviously this is dependant on snow fall as they clear the access road quickly. Some say the glass is half full. Others that it is half empty. I say 'Are you drinking that?"

Hi Guys, Re; snow chains. Never carried them or needed them in the past, but I see now that it is law to carry them on mountain roads even if you drive a 4x4, so looks like we should all be carrying them now when visting in the winter. No issue with the vehicles capability just Law.TDV6 2004 Auto Zambezi Silver Badged SE not quite an S with Nav & Rear DVD
