2.7 TDV6 Engine Purchase from Landrover
Hi, please can anybody advise the best route (websites or phone numbers) to purchase a new replacement Discovery three, 2.7 TDV6 engine from Landrover directly and an approximate price and what is included?
I don't trust ANY of the re-conartists from weeks of researching and all second hand engines now seem to be high milers! I want to replace the engine once only!!!
Thanks
Carl

Thanks very much for the information I'll give him a shout. I did the obvious search on Landrover's website etc but they just seem to want to sell me another expensive one and not the parts to fix my other old one. For the record the failure was the famous oil pump scenario of the 07 & 08 models, poor engineering and not enough metal to cope with daily tensions of the timing belt resulting in metal fatigue and eventually a sheer fault at 102000. I hope their Engineers can live with themselves as somebody somewhere cocked up a stress calc and they will not admit it!

Try and PM Bodsy. He's done just this and spent the last two weeks pretty much re-building his D3 from the ground up while in the process of replacing his engine:

Someone at Ford. It's not a JLR engine.
Might have been PSA as its a joint venture, on the other hand someone at LR signed it off.

If its the tensioner failure, have you had the heads off?
May just need replacement heads. and a replacement piston or 2.
Seams a shame to spend money on a new engine if the crank is ok and all the labour to swap the engine out

There are companies who advertise in the magazines who can supply engines.
Check in the LRM mag and the Landrover Owner mag.
One is NWS motors of Whitchurch, Shrops.
Don't know them, but possibly some one on here will.
All i can suggest

NWS are best avoided for a recon 2.7...
The only option I would consider is a factory recon unit from a main dealerMy D3 Build Thread

Micheal Hague Morgan he co owns the company who recon lr engines for them , he won’t sell one to you because god I’ve tried all roads to get one from him but his company is contracted direct to Landrover but you never now he may be able to give you someone who can help might even get a good price, it’s alway worth ago. I think lr is £3500 plus vat but reading bodsy post and speaking with him you will spend a lot more than that fixing it But you will have a 2 yr warranty at least
