Been a dunce! Need new wing mirror
Hi
Yep been a complete D***head - reversed car into garage tonight and clipped the LH wing mirror - cracked the glass and the I think I broke the mechanism. On a road trip tomorrow too so would like to get it fixed asap.
Anyone recommend a replacement part near Chelmsford?
Cheers

Hi sdfuk,
Breaking the mechanism, I think, would be very difficult. What makes you think that you have?
If it's just the mirror, replacements are readily available from LR dealers parts dept, and a doddle to replace.
Best Wishes,

you will need tio get afull mirror and glass - for a heated/memory/folding mirror - the unit is about £100 and the mirror about £50
they come as complete units. TLO sorted me out with a new one a month or so ago

Smashed 2 of mine and at £160 a pop, is a bit painful on the wallet. The first one went when I got too close to a parked lorry
The 2nd was smashed when some clown parked in a layby, facing oncoming traffic on a cold dark morning just before Xmas 2 years ago had his passenger door wide open and protruding into the road.
I saw the car, but not the door as I was too busy trying to avoid the bus coming toward me, the driver of which (apart from being dressed as Santa ), was ing about with something and not watching where he was going and was drifting onto my side of the road.
Missed the bus but there was a terrific bang as my wing mirror hit the top edge of the open door at about 20mph and disintegrated into little pieces while slamming the door violently shut.
I stopped just down the road, got out and having looked at the remains of my wing mirror, started to walk back to the car to find out wtf the door was doing open .
It was then I noticed the chap staggering toward me down the road. It was the car's owner and he was shaking like a leaf and clearly shocked. When he'd recovered enough to talk, he explained that he was stretched across the front seats of his car from the passenger side, trying to reach his ice scraper on the drivers side when next thing he knows, there is a terrific bang and the door is slammed shut on his legs.
Fortunately, apart from a huge fright, he was uninjured and his car door had a very small dent in it so before he could come to his senses completely and perhaps get shirty/call Mr Plod etc. I wished him a Happy Christmas and off quick.
TBH though, I don't think I was completely to blame - OK, I should have seen the open car door perhaps but I was distracted by Santa driving the bus and the need to avoid said bus that was half on my side of the road. Also, matey boy in the car shouldn't have had the door wide open like that in the face of oncoming traffic. I bet he's never done it again. Now an ex-D3 owner after 7 happy years. Miss the car but not the big bills
