Rang Landrover assist in France! Might as well have rung skoda Whistle They were going to send a man in a van without a diagnostic unit Rolling with laughter

Fell out with them and got onto ferry with only 20% power Thumbs Up This is the D4 in get u home mode! Not much good with van on back. Landrover assist were waiting for me in Hull, onto the lorry the d4 went!

They took us home and the d4 went to the main dealer! So will let u know what had gone wrong later Big Cry

Sorry to be a bit commercial here, but it really has to be said.

And theres me banging on about the benefits of having your own Faultmate FCR Whistle Whistle Whistle

You obviously seem to appreciate that a Diagnostic unit was what you needed and would have made all the difference, and i agree that it would have pin pointed the fault and likely got you fully operational again with simply clearing the fault code memory. I and others have used an FCR to reset systems that have thrown a wobbly and get them operational again without even stopping !!!
Seriously it really is that good and so simple to use as anyone who has one will testify.

Never mind the fact that you can always resell it used when you no longer have need of it for most of its 200 GBP investment costs, 10% less if you qualify for the Disco3.co.uk established member forum discount i offer, meaning its actual cost of ownership is next to nothing, it's certainly worth every penny in respect of the assurance of having it in the glovebox at all times.

Sounds good, discount? use to be a member of Disco2! thats a few years ago.

anyway. the AA (land rover assist man could not find any fault codes logged! he said that he has limited access to the fault code system and that is would need to go back to Land rover!!!! I think that is the T4 unit.

Will your system read everything, unlike, I presume, the AA mans unit!

have you a link to purchase one for the D4 2011 model year

Ha har Bow down Got D4 back at 3:00 Very Happy
Well the problem was with the way the software works out if the fuel is running low Sad Because the tank is long/fixed front to back on the car, the tank has two sensors one at the front and one at the back. As I was going down hill for 4 miles and the tank was on 1/4 full 8) The computer thought I was running out of fuel(as I slowed down to turn off motorway) and so shut the engine down to 20% Big Cry Big Cry prob rear sensor could not detect fuel!

The problem was that after filling up the unit for some reason could not reset Big Cry

So they had to reconfigure the PCM unit Whistle

All fine now Very Happy

Hiya Discobailey

Glad you are all sorted Thumbs Up
I gather the dealers IDS read the fault codes which ultimately led to figuring the event that caused all your trouble.

Yea, generic tools, even good ones can only do so much and there is a world of difference between them and Vehicle specific equipment.

Our FAULTMATE FCR does indeed read and clear fault codes from absolutely everything, including all possible optional fitment systems and those only fitted in certain markets.

The fault codes from each ECU you select are read and then converted into text via a massive database. This produces exactly the same result as if you were using a dealers T4 / IDS tool Thumbs Up

here is a video of me using it on my D3

http://www.blackbox-solutions.com/downloads/videos/FCR.html

to get one go to this page in our web shop

https://www.blackbox-solutions.com/shop/?browse=FAULTMATE%20FCR

Scroll down to the one for your model, in the case of D3 thats FCR30 and D4 FCR31
Add it to the cart and then click proceed to checkout whilch will appear at the Top Right.
Fill everything in as requested there.

To then get the discount, you need to read this
http://www.blackbox-solutions.com/download...disco4.pdf

Hope this helps, especially with the next problem.

Warmest Regards

Colin

All recieved and approved DB.

Thanks for your order, very soon you will know how empowering and confidence inspiring having such a great bit of kit as the FCR really is. You will no longer be reliant on anyone to provide suitible diagnostic facilities if you have problems during future field excursions.

This unfortunate event and the trouble and worry it caused will simply never ever happen again Thumbs Up Thumbs Up Thumbs Up

haha got the D4 back Thumbs Up

Turns out the problem was with a particle filter sensor. It also did not help having a battery on the car that was faulty. This gave them the run around, because at the same time as the sensor fault, it logged an incorrect gear change from the gear box! Sad

Anyway they sorted it all out.
