ECU Remap at risk with IID Tool?
Hello all,
My 2005 D3 tdv6 is remapped by Superchips and I would like to use the IID Tool to change some settings.
Last time when we tried some other device, the remap was cleared and I had to pay around £200 to re flash it. The main concern isn't only the money right now but the ownership of Superchips since covid has changed 3-4 times and it will be harder and more expensive at the same time from what I learned. I don't want to loose the remap for some settings.
When asked to GAP, they wrote me back saying it's perfectly safe but since I lived a past experience I am hesitant.
Can I make a backup of the remap?
What do you advise?
Thanks,

You cant make a backup of the map with a different tool, it would be helpful if you told us what you intend to change on the PCM.
You can make a backup of the system when the IID is attached, to alter any remap code you would need to download the PCM file and manually change the code inside the file, then re-upload it.
Like I have said what is it you want to change.

Thank you for your response.
Since I don't know what options are available I don't know what to change.
I don't want anything to change on the map I just didn't want to loose it while messing around with the configuration.
Where can I see what options I might have?2005 Disco 3 TDV6 HSE, 2.5" Johnson Rods lift kit, 265/70R17 Mickey Thompson MTZ tires, Heavy Duty front axles, 12.000 lbs discrete mounted winch, Mantec Sump guard, LR Raised Air intake, Albrecht 6890 CB Radio, Superchips ECU remapped, Sprint Booster Throttle Response, K&N air filter, Waeco fridge, 42" & 23" LED bars, Britpart rock sliders....
Changing any settings in the configuration will have no effect on the map file, its a totally seperate file. The only way you can mess up a map file is to over write with another file.
If you have backed up the car to the IID tool then you can restore the settings including the engine map, but you have to manually select that option in the menu on the tool.
Changing anything in the CCF or the CJB file settings will not chnage anything with a remap file.

Thank you. This gives me confidence
Maybe in the past after altering the ccf they wanted to do an update to the whole system hence I lost the map.2005 Disco 3 TDV6 HSE, 2.5" Johnson Rods lift kit, 265/70R17 Mickey Thompson MTZ tires, Heavy Duty front axles, 12.000 lbs discrete mounted winch, Mantec Sump guard, LR Raised Air intake, Albrecht 6890 CB Radio, Superchips ECU remapped, Sprint Booster Throttle Response, K&N air filter, Waeco fridge, 42" & 23" LED bars, Britpart rock sliders....
If you have had the car at a main dealers and they have done a restore they will have put the files back to when it left the factory plus any latest updates, thats what the dealer tools do.

Well euhhh yes you can..
I use this device
I use it with an old windows 10 laptop And the kess software To flash the map, change maps and back-up the maps..
I have 3 maps with my D3… 2 power maps and the original one
Important, if you make a back-up or flashing the ECU, be sure it is on battery support during the whole process Best regards

@Motolab You are correct about that tool I have one as well, I forgot I had that one. , but some tools will not read other tools encrypted files. Unless its changed since I retired.

@flack
You are right about some encrypted file use, but as a back-up of both original mappings and reflashed mappings and restore to what is wanted/needed the Kess device will work anyway Since once on the ECU a file is not encrypted…(anymore)
CheersBest regards
