EGR BLANKING
Hi everyone
Disco 3 tdv6 SE 167000
Got around to looking at my egr sytem today and found it’s already blanked with pipes removed which could be a problem MOT time , electrical plugs are also out , not sure if butterfly has been removed will look tomorrow. Am thinking should I leave disconnected until I can confirm butterfly gone otherwise may close shutting off flow , obviously if butterfly gone I can plug back in as nothing there to close

Well it's all done started early before it started raining however I did get a little wet the wind wasnt to bad here but it's getting up.
Now here is the thing it looks like some one previously fitted an egr blanking plate drivers side, I fitted one on the passenger side 1st didn't notice a blanking plate went todo the drivers side and noticed it had been done already. Pressing on I checked to see if the swirl flap had been removed.......nope still in there so removed it this took the longest as the last little screw holding the actuator on is a right real .
All back together test drive done no more surging and l can pull out of a junction again time will tell.
I shoulda gone back and check just to see if their was a blanking plate passenger side but I'm cold n wet mite revisit it another time.
I'm thinking an egr failed in the past and some one blanked only the faulty valve leaving the rest and the other side was giving up....may be

If you blank the EGR valves on a D3, would this actually cause an issue at MOT time? Would it fail the MOT just due to being blanked or is there an associated reason?

It will fail mot if egr or any other emission part can be seen to be missing or rendered inoperative, if pipework still there You can’t tell it’s blanked but if pipework removed it’s a fail

But technically illegal by any means.
