Can a disconnected bonnet release cable be a fail It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

Think I'll start renting out my valves and pipes for MOT time.
They've been sat in the garage for 2 years now, the previous owner of mine had removed both the pipes and valves and I managed to source valves and pipes but never got round to fitting them, has passed 2 mot's in my time with them missing.
Could rent them for a week at a time - might be time to become a Forum supporter

Mine just failed MOT for missing EGRs. First time it has failed an MOT in 11 years. Fortunately I still have all the parts. Can’t recall if I blanked them because of EGR failure or as prevention. Probably the latter. Will look back at my posts about 10 years ago.
I know the garage quite well and feel a bit guilty going back with the fitted but still blanked.2005, TDV6 S, Auto, 190k miles, owned from new, V8 Brake Upgrade, Nancom Evo, RLD protector, BAS EGR blanking & Remap, separate ATF cooler, changing all the fluids ahead of time.

I have just read the excellent BAS instructions that I used when blanking 10 years back. Based upon what I have read and can recall, could I remove the blanks in the top housing, fit the pipes but not the butterfly. Then fit the bottom of the pipes but over the top of the blanking plate. I would need a fresh gasket between the blanking plate and the pipe but that would then give me a sealed EGR system with everything in place. Are the 8mm bolts used at the bottom of the pipe long enough to go through both pipe flange and blanking plate?2005, TDV6 S, Auto, 190k miles, owned from new, V8 Brake Upgrade, Nancom Evo, RLD protector, BAS EGR blanking & Remap, separate ATF cooler, changing all the fluids ahead of time.

Hi barnie
Sorry to hear urs failed the mot
When I blanked my egrs I removed the butterfly , replaced the butterfly pin in the throttle body , then used 1.5 mm stainless steel blanks , fitting them between the engine block and egr pipes
Mine went to the dealer last year for its mot and nothing was mentioned because U can’t see the blanks
Reused existing bolts as they were long enough , reused the gasket but also used some black gasket sealer
Yes same here, pipes still in place but blanked. Never failed on it yet. Fingers crossed The happiest of people don't necessarily have the best of everything;
They just make the best of everything they have.

All back together with blanking plates in place. May spray some dirty oil over the bottom of the pipes.
For anyone putting the pipes back, removing this bracket first makes fitting the near side pipe much easier

I’m glad I was a cheapskate 9 years ago when I blanked my egr’s and just bought the cheap kit so still have the pipes and valves in place! There would be no way I would have been able to find the pipes after 9 years of my chaos storage system!Stu
