EGR blanking MY08 without DPF

After replacing both egr valves two years ago our Disco is trying to annoy us again with MIL on, rough idle, no acceleration from idle, egr failure code, etc!!

So now it is definitely time to blank the Censored egrs!!

But after reading through nearly all of the egr-threads i am totally confused now what to do!!
We have a my08 disco without a DPF!
So just to get the my06 blanking kit and remove the butterfly valve? Or is there a ecu-patch required?
I have the nanocom evolution! Is there a patch for this diagnostic device?

Thx, martin

Have an 08 too and will be doing similar soon.
I believe that a software patch is needed to remove the egr function.
Though not found too much on software other than the BAS remap.
Blank the egr outputs with a plate and remove the butterfly.

I can remember to read something about a dongle from BAS?! Is it no longer on the market?

Not sure, but looking on the gap iid tools site i belive it can be done with one. Likely others too i would think. Nanocom?
I belive a reading of your engine map has to be taken, sent then returned modified?
Could be wrong though.

BAS offer an EGR removal map which can be applied with an IID but not a Nanocom. Another option is to get an EGR removal remap from a reputable company. Likely cost around £200-250.

just a short update on my egr-issues:

car was nearly "undriveable"! no power below 2000rpm, white smoke after engine start vor approx. 20sec. (new glow plugs already installed last year), black smoke through all rpms, etc.!!

blanked both egrs yesterday and have a new car now!! smooth engine run, smooth and agile acceleration, ...!

found a near diesel-tuner to remap the disco to get rid of the MIL. no limp mode up to now!

i am quite happy with the car now! Whistle

As a matter of interest, will you have any problems with the next TUV test with blanked EGR's ?

The BAS software for egr delete works perfectly. I think I was one of the first to get it several years ago on a Sept 2008 D3

in germany there are two different ways how they check the engine exhausts during the MOT:

cars with OBD2 are just checked for faults etc in the ecu (no engine run-up). BUT they check if the ecu memory was deleted within the last month (do not know exactly the time frame). If so, the MOT requires a standard engine run-up like for cars without OBD2.

The standard MOTs engine run-up just uses the exhausts with the engine in approx. 4000-5000rpm! where the egr valves are closed anyway! means that the MOT shouldnt be a problem.
my td5 is blanked since years and never got any problems at MOT.
