Hi all I did a quick search for EGR faults and found a reference to a LRA quick fix which took a couple of mins ? I have read all about the blanking plates ect but all I need to do is have enough power to drive to the dealers to have the EGR values replaced under warranty. We do not have access to LRA on the island and the car would just be shipped away which would take a week at least, plus no car. I just need to drive it on to the ferry and to Inverness 90 miles away. Any help gratefully received.
Cheers
Lee

Sure it's not a blown turbo, is there an "ENGINE SYSTEM FAULT" message. ISTR that if it was knackered EGR it was down on power but not that bad, turbo failure brings it to it's knees, mine also had an EGR fault code but it was the turbo that had failed. Drove 35 miles to dealer like that, just drive VERY gently keeping revs LOW, as if you have an egg between foot and peddle was how it was described to me by RAC dude.
Turbo cuts in at about 2.5 revs and boosts the power so I can move. sorry repost

If your car's under warranty Land Rover should come out to you...I would be careful blanking them yourself incase they decide to void warranty on the EGR's etc.
I would ring Land Rover customer service before doing anything and get to know what they want you to do
Thanks all, I decided it was to hassle if I may invalidate the warenty so its being shipped off by ferry to my dealers in the morning. As a point of interest, the last time LRA recovered one of our vehicles they would not take it to my own dealers only the closest one ( miss fueling by the the wife this time they said they would take it anywhere ? is this a change in policy or was it because it was our fault ?
Thanks all for the anwsers

You can have the car taken to your dealer of choice within reason, have a Str es around the corner and won't ever be taken back there Now driving BMW 330d Touring....misses D3...but not when at traffic lights
I know what you mean, thats why I was a bit worried, the main dealer in Inverness are only interested in selling a total loss for any after sales. I drive another 30 odd miles to Frank Ogg in Elgin who are first rate and never us down a really nice people to deal with. Shameless plug for good service

Deffo worth getting it to Frank Ogg. I live 35 miles from Inverness and Elgin and go to Oggs every time. Speak to Mark (workshop supervisor) if you want to go through the symptoms. Different class from M&D.

PS Bootneck, were U the poor soul that had his D3 written off in a fire??? ITSR that was someone on Uist, or was it Harris or Lewis.
lol Nope that was me, one crispy D3 and I still went right back to Oggs and bought another one, my poor 15 year old panics when she sees even a wisp of anything that could be smoke of any description. I notice that the latest recall notice says some D3 might burst into flame, no s***
