Mine has the lag from time to time as well, but it does seem to have got more frequent in the last few weeks. I half wonder if it's cold related, or off road related? The other thing I've noticed is that my rev surging is back and I wonder if it's linked.
I never changed the filter when I did the double flush but I have enough oil left and the filter to do it again, so I might do that and then see if it goes away.
Is it worth getting the EGR's blanked off? Does this make much of a difference to the performance / economy etc? D3 HSE MY05 Auto

I too am having these problems:
- Little or no power below 2,500 rpm
- Nosedive in MPG
- Auto Gearbox struggling to change gears until around 3,500rpm
- The dreaded Roundabout gamble.. bit hairy from time to time 
I am guessing all this sounds EGR Related aswell?
