Did mine today. Foil backed sound proofing. Took decibel reading before and after... app on tablet ! ! Even stook spare to underside of bonet, then put felt back on. On readings only 2 db less. But it does sound quieter when revs are up. Mind games. On the plus side, did find melted bare wires on washer jet under bonet felt. Now removed and potential fire avoided , was it worth it ??
I think the difference is the way the higher frequencies are attenuated. The diesel rattle is less after putting the foam in. As I had quite a bit left over, I put a second layer in. I wish I had measured the difference in sound level after doing that. I do have a frequency analyzer app on my phone. I'll see what the difference is cover on and cover off.
I have had the same silver backed felt on mine for two years. No issues and at time car has worked hard towing caravan.
Hardly gets warm in sun towing. Worried I will get frost bite inside in winter. Hope it might help.
Not run a d3 in winter. Only sr2a and 300tdi both fridges. might buy muff for front for winter frost.
Has anybody got one on yet?Land rovers are to prevent you having idle hands.

Another convert here - did mine a while back. That stuff does the job nicely; no longer do I worry about bits going in the oil filler!

Did belts and oil service last weekend, and found the sound proofing foam had all but completely fallen off.
Bought some of the GlassMAT from eBay, and fitted today.

Did a crude dB measure with a phone app. Appears to give a 2dB lower reading. I know it's not scientific.
I'll see how it is when I drive home tonight.Richard

Added bonus
I checked the underside of the cover last night after a few months, and other than a slight mark its all clean
So I can assume I dont have anything nasty leaking under there..
My next plan is to remove the old bonnet insulation as this has now all sagged down and looks a right mess!2010 Disco 4 HSE
