Could be, or maybe fuel filter. Does it do it under hard acceleration?

Well, I had similar on the way back from Morocco last August. I filled up with fuel in Fes, and after that I could not overtake anything. Each time I tried it would kick down, give a surge of power, then bong with engine system failure, total loss of power, coast to a halt. Restart and carry on.

The fault codes were indicating a low fuel pressure. We changed the air filter, and once I got another tank of fuel it was fine.

Just the air filter at first, it helped, but it was not until I got to Spain and filled with some decent fuel did the problem completely go away. I also think that the high temps and altitude contributed.

It would do you no harm to change the air and fuel filters, and see if it sort it out. If not, then some diagnostics might be required before you start swapping expensive bits Thumbs Up

When I had that same problem, only on overtaking or strong acceleration, it was just the fuel filter. Once changed, it has been fine ever since. Thumbs Up

Excellent result Thumbs Up

Its good when you find something that is obviously wrong, and it does not cost you hundreds to fix.
