Engine System Failure Special Programmes Off - Fun and Games
I had the Engine System Failure Special Programmes Off yesterday, whilst batting down the motorway in cruise control. However that was a little better than the morning when it happened the first time. XX to zero slowly is ok on the motorway, but not when you're trying to overtake a truck on an A road..... eeck!
I'll get it to a stealer next week for them to read the codes.
Any recommendations for the Warwick area?
Cheers
Simon

I've just had the same problem, check your turbo hose to the intercooler, mine had a small split

Had same on way up to Keilder, pulling back into Lane 2 after going round lorry going round lorry! Luckily had cruise on at 60 (had boosted up to 70 & up a hill) so it held 60, previous times it just goes into limp home mode. Did not fancy being a bonnet mascot!
10forcash checked my codes and they were showing turbo overboost error so it'll be going in for that. Also car is well down on power and drinking easily 20% more on like for like journey comparisons. So far intercooler, intercooler hose, MAF sensor, air & fuel filters, EGRs blanked and turbo actuator linkage sorted few thousand miles ago. Will get them to check for hose leaks and see if it needs another turbos. Getting fed up with this one as it is now trying to kill me! Land Rovers, you love 'em or hate em, at the mo bit of both!

how many turbos have you had then
If your geting airflow meter fault codes with special programs off up on dash
then could be the hose split as mine, squeeze hose @ the bend and feel round the hose.
My hose had 20mm slit HSE TDV6 Silver : "Avin it large"

Still on 2nd turbo. No SP NOT AVAIL messages, just ENGINE SYSTEM FAULT, engine going into its safety mode (and sod mine!) and a 40t truck getting larger in my mirrors with me having nowhere to go!

Got Engine System Fault too.......
Replaced filter, no joy
Think it's going to be the TURBO There is no such thing as bad weather, only the wrong clothes.
Mine hasn't gone into fault since I changed the intercooler - but it only happened on mine when it was above 20'C ambient and after a long run and I booted it. Just before I changed it, the temperature changed, so I'm waiting for the summer to return to find out for sure Mark.

Mines been doing it since Aug but curiously didn't mind the hot temps in Tunisia!! Doesn't seem to matter what the temp is, it just needs a boost in throttle to go from 60 to 70 up a hill (or stay at 60 up a steep hill) and it triggers it. If I'm pressing with reasonable amount of heavy right foot it doesn't fo it, hills or not!
I half wonder if it (The engine management) does a calculation based on ambient temperature of what it expects the temps/pressures in the engine should be and if they aren't within a tolerance, shut the engine down.
But if I read it correctly, as yours happens if you boot it, rather than keep a steady boot-full, it could be something like turbo overboosting, or simply be the intercooler blocked and not cooling the air charge low enough for the conditions - though I think you said that has been changed? Or a split pipe.Mark.

Yep new IC. Just when feed in a bid of power to boost up & round stuff on Mway. Did a bit of flooring it overtaking on normal road & power is also well down but no shutdown. . Suspecting overboost problem from code, will not be impressed if it needs second turbo in less than 5 years!! Will also get Guava to check for leeks in the turbo/IC hoses.

Just had it finally diagnosed - new intercooler - it was cracked, impacted by something - doing it for £695.
Does that sound right?
Groan more money.....
