Engine Whistle....

After off roading yesterday the car has deleoped a whistle.

It happens in gear and out of gear, in low/high box and also when stationary.

Mostly when under no load between 1000rpm and 2000rpm there is a whistle from the engine. In old money it sounds little like a fan belt slipping on an old Escort!!!.

Performance is ok, still quick and fuel is the same. Could it be a drive belt or engine bearing issue???

Help!!

Likely to be one of the Serpentine (fan) belt pulley bearings, I've had to replace a few on my Def'ner for the same reason.

Mud & grit gets in, wears the seal and then the lubrication gets washed out - game over.

I had one seize up completely once and it shredded the belt.
