Firstly I tried to put this in the faults topic but was not allowed.
The engine on my D3 won't start, it sounds like a dead flat battery as it can only just about turn the engine over, however dealer put on a brand new battery, same thing. With the help of a jump-start ( the donor vehicle running for 10 minutes ) we finally managed to get it to start, drove it home, 15 miles, tested voltage at battery, 13.84 volts, turned engine off, left it 5 minutes, tested voltage at battery, 12.47 volts, tried to start engine won't start, sounds like battery flat, LRA on their way out and I suppose it will have to go into the dealer but they are not sure what to look for, does anybody out there in D3 Land have any ideas on what the problem might be I'm not as good as I once was........but I'm as good once as I ever was.

Sounds like starter motor. Has it been turning over on stratup slower than before?
Bodsy, yes it has, slower and slower over the last week or so.
SN the car has done just over 25,000 miles, in fact it was probably just on 25,000 that it started playing up.I'm not as good as I once was........but I'm as good once as I ever was.

Could be an alternator fault. With the noise your motor was making it could be the alternator siezing. I've known an alternator prevent the engine starting and to get the guy going (local) we cut the alternator belt off
Quick check, take serpentine off and see if you can freely turn alternator, should be hardly any resistance.
Engine turning over freely by hand so nothing seized, but thanks for the suggestion Lee, LRA guy reckons starter motor, being recovered to Edwards Chester as Shukers Shrewsbury are on stop as the are too busy I'm not as good as I once was........but I'm as good once as I ever was.
Sorry Rob, but I do hope so as the LRA guy couldn't get mine started and we had to push it into a position to be recovered I'm not as good as I once was........but I'm as good once as I ever was.
I was afraid of that, I asked the guy when he dropped it off was he trying to spoil me I'm not as good as I once was........but I'm as good once as I ever was.
