EPB fault but checking CANBUS - DTC code u012887

Hi

I have an EPB issue where I am just getting an amber light, no squeal or anything else. I have checked the continuity and shorts to earth, 12v and each other for all the wires at the EPB loom and connector and not found an issue. I am now checking the CANBUS wires in the whole vehivle and would like an opinion on what I found. In the engine bay there are some CAN wires going acros the bay from drivers side to passenger side. The CAN wires that go from the ABS module to the transfer case module have a join in them (pic 1)[C:\Users\andrew.burke\Desktopdsc_32]. I have not done this, does this look like it has been done during manufacture. Also pic 2 [C:\Users\andrew.burke\Desktopdsc_32] shows some splicing on CANBUS cables. These come from the passenger side across the engine bay and are just joined there. At the passenger side one pair appears to go to the CJB and the other to the instrument cluster. Again is this jointing usual

Martin

Thanks for the pic upload guide but I can not get it to work via internet explorer on laptop or via g.chrome from a sony xperia z (not being a dummy and my wife has tried and she designs web pages) she thinks it may work in moz. firefox. For the record I have uploaded the pics in my Disco3 gallery. Only 2 pics there so you should have no trouble in viewing.

Cheers
Andy.

The splices in the 2nd picture look typical Land Rover but the twisting looks a little loose. The first picture could be OEM or a repair (as I can be that neat when I try).

What is the actual issue? If you had a CAN-BUS fault, you would have a lot more faults than just an EPB warning on the dash Confused

Mikey

I have a solid amber light for the park brake, no red or any squeal, and got a code u0128-87 lost comms with epb module. I have tried the emergency stop that I have seen in other posts. I am getting intermittent suspension issues also but was just having a nose around. Re the epb I have checked the wiring loom and all seems ok. I have seen in other documentation that the EPB module may have lost its configuration. It is going in for a full code read on Friday to see if there are any other errors. Any ideas?

Have you checked the harness to the EPB module itself?

On mine it was chafing on the chassis on the left of the spare wheel hole, and causing EPB application issues.

Check the big Yellow/Green wire for corrosion at the N/S/F wheelarch. Even though you are getting 12v, the module needs to see enough current on the wire for the module to function correctly Thumbs Up

That said, a full list of all the fault codes from each module may help, as it may be a "cascade" fault.

The loom to the epb looks ok but I will double check near the connectors at the wheel arch.

Mikey
I did notice that the big GY wire and it was nipped. I have cut and spliced it but I may run an overlay wire direct from the fuse box to the epb connector to eliminate that issue.

Thanks for the input guys, I wouldn't normally bother with it but it's MOT time and I don't know any testers who would let me get away with that one!!! Wink
