| EPB (handbrake) Screech on D4 |

Hi all,
I've noticed a lot of chat surrounding the screeching EPB on the D3 but not the D4. My D4 developed this problem over the weekend and the dash has a warnign light and message which reads "parking brake not engaged, pull up to activate" or something along those lines.
When I have actived the brake the noise is very loud and screeching.
What is the problem and how is it fixed? I'm putting the car to a small garage tomorrow morning so I just want to go in armed with some knowledge.
Any indications on repair cost?

May just need adjustment of the EPB shoes.
However, they could be jammed or disintegrated - you won't know until they strip the rear brakes to check. 06 D3 SE / 15 LR D90 XS SW / 88 LR 90 Td5 / 68 BMW 2000 ti
