Euro 6 or euro 5 engine

What are the advantages and disadvantages of the euro 6 engine am I better off going for a euro 5 with more choice and more cost effective

Euro6 vehicles have the lowest emissions and should be able to enter some cities where they’re setting up low emission zones. I think in UK London is one of them, Stockholm in Sweden, Germany had a bunch in development. In the latter case the judicial branch there said the change must be gradual and Euro5 was sufficient for at least a few years more.

If you expect to go to such a place regularly or keep the car for a longer period it probably makes sense to get one with the lowest emissions. Seems popular to beat up diesels right now.

When Euro 6 and AdBlue was applied, the CO2 output dropped from 213 to 203g, so all cars from the final facelift, in 2014, will have cheaper VED Thumbs Up

I’d go for a Euro 6 car, if possible, to avoid the worst of the anti diesel hysteria.

If your wanting Euro 6 Adblue you need to be looking at 65 plate or newer, Adblue came off the production line from July 2015.

I guess if you are going to keep it a long time and don't go near big cities, go for older engine. (maybe more reliable)

if you are concerned about resell values and want to take it to london, go for the newer engine
