Dogs are not normally allowed in caravan but this chap sneaked in. At least he brought his bed with him.

Arrived in Vallon Pont Darc. Good test of gear changes getting up to the Ardeche plateau. Even bigger test of the turbo when we drive back out of the gorge in 5 days time. Still can’t believe this is day 5 with 42 to go. Shocked

It seems the rain we have seen in the way down has been here for over a week. Weather should start improving this week. We were lucky with break in rain for trip to Balazuc a medieval town perch above the Ardeche. Well worth the short drive and walk. Very nice plat du jour in Largentierr in restaurant full of locals. No tourists to be seen - bar us

Off to Les Vans for the market this morning. Found some way marked walks for next few days.

As with each site stayed at, less than a dozen pitches taken. Oh so quiet. Thumbs Up

Excellent market in Les Vans. Returned to site to find it has fewer pitches occupied than when we left at 9am. This was the view in our part of the site before the clouds lifted. Hoping for some sun and decent walking for next two days.

Nice circular walk from camp site to the hill above us that used to be Old Valon, another medieval village that has mostly fallen down. Some remains are now holiday homes. Great view of our campsite and the only two caravans on it - ours is the one in line with swimming pool.

Just realised I have not watched telly for over a week and not missing it. Walk to Pont D’Arc tomorrow.

I’m getting worried about all this walking!! Just to clarify for peeps, walking is not essential on Road Trips. Whistle Whistle

Although in mine I’ll be starting training for my first half snickers in 32 years so I’ll be doing some running. Big Cry Big Cry

Walking is one way to keep the miles down on the Disco. Just gone over 181,000 Shocked

Change of itinerary after Monday. We are off to Cannes and use that as a base to go into Provence. Hoping for some Beach weather”.

Here are the walks from the campsite. Not easy to find the start but a friendly lady farmer pointed us in the right direction which was mostly up hill!

On the way we crossed the bridge over the river Ibie. Note it is now sun hat, shorts and sun cream weather

Had to take photo of the bridge formed when the river Ardeche that cut a gorge back on itself, cut through many thousands of years ago. Impressive. Shame about the tourists!!!

3hours 40 mins to site at Antibes. Disco now averaging nearly 22 mpg which I think is down to driving 3mph faster which avoids drops into 5th gear.

Spring has really sprung on the way down with all trees in leaf. Here in Antibes it looks and feels like the Med I was expecting.

No views from this site but it is beside a park and woodland that is ideal for walking the dogs. About to griddle some chicken and have opened a bottle of our own rose wine that was made from our grapes last year - just to show our French neighbours we Brits can make good wine. Probably go yacht watching tomorrow.

Small cosy pitch but facilities are clean and weather 21 degrees and blue skies.

Today we are in Antibes seeing the million pound yachts. Nice to be able to walk around so close to see what is going on. Most seem to have a crew doing cleaning.
