It certainly makes you stop and think. Spend most of our lives working don't know what the future holds thinking more and more about doing something similar while able to. Thumbs Up

Looks like a fantastic trip. We did a very similar route over 2 weeks but cut across the Grosglockner Pass and the Stelvio so didn't get as far as Lake Bled. We did have the benefit of going in our Porsche 911 though and weren't towing a caravan so could really make the most of the mountain roads Wink

Enjoy Thumbs Up

Scotland 500, or the Northern 500 or the Coast 500 as it can often be referred to on here, is actually the North Coast 500.

Which is basically a made up route (by marketing people) that goes up the East or West coast of northern Scotland, along the top and then back down the opposite side, basically making a circular route from and back to Inverness.

There is an 'official' website as well as un-official ones and various marketing spin-offs such as mugs, T-shirts and beer.

The route involves A roads and B roads, some of which are single track with passing places. It can be very busy during the summer, especially August.

It can easily be done in anything from a couple of days to a couple of weeks.

Some of the scenery and roads are spectacular some less so. Most would say the east coast is the less appealing.

Started the day with English breakfast with a bit of French on side

Then drive to Grasse - did not like it. Perhaps we missed the best bits but what we saw was streets full of men smoking and hanging about. Good that we stayed less than 30 mins so parking was free.

Came back via Valbonne. This was a lovely village, built to a grid with many narrow lanes and nice square.

Then home via Biot which we thought would be to best part but actually that was Valbonne.

Thinking of doing Monaco tomorrow. Picked up some 2T oil for the long dash to northern Italy on Saturday.

I hear the weather is good at home. Here it is wall to wall sunshine and 22 degrees dropping st night to 14. Warm evenings for sitting outside. Picked a good time to visit I think.

Chaos on the motorway meant we aborted Monaco and went up to the Gourdon village for lunch in an open air restaurant with best views ever down to coast. First photo shows the Gourdon village above the waterfall. Second photo from top. Worth euro19 for the plat du jour
