Extra Boot Lighting
I've found the standard boot light to be pretty useless.
I needed a light that would provide good interior light plus that lit up the area immediately outside the boot - me and the lad fish / hill walk and at this time of year we often arrive back at dark. I wanted something we could use to tackle down, change kit and make a brew. And, yes, we have Petzls but I wanted something in the car we could use.
Having looked at the various threads, I decided to use a similar idea to Wiggs but found a 180 degree swivel light. I chose to mount it in the upper tailgate so it could be swiveled into the boot or out to illuminate the lower tailgate (our 'table') or the area outside to check for any bits of kit.
For those interested, this is it...
The LED light itself..
Fitted to the upper trim..
Fixings and cables - it comes with screws but I replaced them for bolts. Hole sizes are 2.5mm bolt and 4.5mm
cable..
The cable was threaded through the upper tailgate, through the left hand rubber gaiter (more space) and along the boot head lining..
Down into the power board where the jack used to live..
And all covered up..
This is 'standard' boot lighting.. (no flash used)
This is 'standard' plus LED light - much brighter I think.. (no flash used)
This is 'standard' looking out from inside the boot.. (no flash used)
This is 'standard' plus LED light swiveled to point out from the boot.. (no flash used)

Bright idea! Didn`t quite understand where you connected it, to the lights or with a separate switch?
That power board looked optional.-05 TDV6 HSE dc5r

Wiggs.
Fuse board is Blue Sea. Devon 44 has then for huge bucks. If you do a search you can get them a lot cheaper. I have the same board in the rear of my D3.
PS I'll get the pics for you tomorrow HONI SOIT QUI MAL Y PENSE

Zebadee, Yes that's the make. They do several sizes of board with different numbers of outputs, common bus bars and different IP ratings as well.
Well worth the money HONI SOIT QUI MAL Y PENSE

The light is separately switched so I can leave the normal interior lights off to save the main battery. The LED light has it's own switch.
The board is a Blue Sea - I picked it up locally in a marine chandlers - you could probably get them cheaper on the net but this saves postage and fannying around waiting.
The power board is fed by a second battery - it also does the rear power sockets.
You could fit the light by hooking into the interior lighting but I want to keep everything separate.I see no ships........

The chandlers only had static lights available when I was in there - I think they may have been having a refit mind since I had to crawl over stuff to get in..
I picked the light up separately from a company doing vehicle lighting bits (Stedall) - they do lights for inside refrigerated trucks etc plus plenty of other bits. It was a bit expensive (about £30) but if it does what I want / need, then it'll save me a lot of fannying around when I'm packing things up etc at the end of a day.
Neil - you only want brighter lights so you can see to do your hair... I see no ships........
