That will be the adaptive xennons! THe ones that turn around the bend with you! That bulb lights up when the steering is turned relatively sharply! Ben

it works on feeds from steering wheel posistion and a whole lot of ecu's to work it
stick with the standard Xenon upgrade from Halogen lamps

It's the cornering light and is part of the adaptive bi-xenon option in Europe.
It comes on when you are stopped at a junction and indicate/turn the wheel (can't remember which).
I wouldn't bother....it's too much hassle 2006 Discovery 3 TDV6 SE Auto Buckingham Blue

If you have a 2006 HSE, it should have adaptive bi-xenon lights. Mine does.

Mine is 2006 on an 06 plate. Certain that ALL 2006 HSE models had adaptive bi-xenon.
Not sure if 2005 HSE had it though? Could be that you have an older model that wasn't registered until 06.
I'm sure someone will verify all this.

mines a July 2006 HSE and has the bendy side lights. they come on as you turn sharp left or right and when you indicate at slow speeds. Duncan

Did you buy your 06 HSE new or used? If used, perhaps someone previously swapped the lights or replaced with incorrect ones after an accident? Could have been a mistake at the factory? Just trying to think why you don't have them!

Check the part number on the headlamp units, start XBC I think, post your findings as this one is a mystery, all HSE's should have adaptive Xenon's (if it is a UK car anyway) 2020 BMW X1 18d XDrive X-Line Auto

Good point CFB.
If the HSE was an "import", such as those sometimes sold by Motorpoint & Tradesales, then it might not be a "uk spec." HSE.
