Reminds me of a similar incident on the M1 where driver said he had no control on full throttle. ISTR he got prosecuted for it as he was just pulling the wool. Wondered if this was similar and just ended differently.

It is odd. The talk of sport mode and normal mode from the driver implies a car with an automatic gearbox, DSG most likely in a Skoda, that the driver couldn't get into neutral also implying electrical failure. The investigator talks of mechanical clutch failure however, which implies a manual car?
