I got my 1st LR3 about a year ago, 2006 Se 4.4V8, 102k on the clock, EPB out but Ive never used a parking brake so I didnt miss it, and after coming out of 3 D2's. I'm in love. Tuned it up, new control arm bushings, all new fluids and filters(except trans) and off the family and I went 6000 miles all over the USA. Colorado was the most fun. No issues, no breakdowns, just driving, driving, driving. Best Vacation Ever.
My wife and daughter were coming home from shopping the other night and the dash lit up like a "Christmas tree" , suspension lowered, flashers came on, dome light came on, she pulled over and restarted car and seemed better and she limped it home.
I put my ultragauge on it and it gave me these DTC's
U0155 - Auto AC Sub Display Lost Communication with gauge control module.
U0128 - Lost Communication with parking Brake module
U0126 - Lost Communication with Steering Angle Control Module
These 3 showed up in pending codes as well plus:
U0121 - F-Can Malfunction (PCM-ABS-Modulator Control Unit)
U0122 - F-Can Malfunction (ECM) PCM-VSA control module unit
on screen messages were:
Suspensioned Lowered
Transmission Fault Traction reduced
Transmission Fault Limited Gears Available
HDC Fault, System not available
Engine system fault
System Fault Special Programs Not Available
Follow me home lights on
Flashers on Dome Light on and eventually I couldnt Start the car.
The next morning I was able to start the car but all faults and error messages were still with me(duh)
Checked Battery 12.5V - Good
Checked Alternater - 14.35V - Good
Took Brake light switch out of my other LR3 and tried that- No Change(brake lights still work)
My daughters boyfriend is a LR Mech and he brought the dealerships computer over and ran tests and determined I have a failed IPC. He says its the main computer and without it nothing else will work. He can change it some saturday morning at the dealership and then he needs to program it as if it were a new car.
($1000 his price for new IPC)
I can find no information on the internet about this unit - did it just fail or did anther system cause it to fail, and if so could it corrupt the new one, any help from anyone to help me make the right decision on pulling the trigger. Car is awesome and I wont let it go, just want to be comfortable with spending the money. Is there any other system that could be causing this I could check in the meantime.
