FBH-diagnosis tool

Hi

Bought the diagnosis tool on eby since the webasto will not work. Found out it's the 'Thermotop V' but it doesn't come up in the list of devices:

Hopefully it comes up automatically but what alternativ can I choose?

Another thing: Where do I find the diagnosis connection on my FBH (said to be the yellow wire?)

Thanx for helping out...

Please forgive me if I am asking silly questions, I will make a split off the RED wire to the diagnosis tool, right? I have this:

then: Contact <ON> and heating <ON>

Just to make sure...

No go... Sad

This is what I did;

Took a split from the red wire on the FBH, used auxillary battery to power the diagnosis tool, contact & AC on. The FBH is 'dead' and tried the fuse trick (do not have the Webasto timer switch -yet-).

Selected 'W-bus' and COM 4.

Regretfully no connection could be established. Something I am overlooking?

Try powering the tool from the vehicle battery, so that the tool and the FBH share a common ground. May not be important, but worth a try.

You can check to see if you have power on the plug into the FBH.

The com port is dependant upon which port the adaptor is allocated when you plug it in. Check which ones are available (in the webasto software) before you plug it in and then check which extra one comes up after plugging in the adaptor. Then choose the one that comes up.

There goes 12 volt to the FBH, COM 4 is correct, checked again. Tool + FBH on common ground.

Still no go Sad

Guess only way to get it going again is buying me a MSV-2... Anyone wanna buy a useless FBH diagnosis tool..?

it is USB->Serial, connected to COM 4. As far as I can see this works correct.

I have this one:

With the tool plugged in to your PC can you post a screen shot of the Device Manager Ports list?

Something like this one: http://www.ecuparts.com/images/DeviceManager_g.jpg

A long shot, but try changing the USB to Serial adapter to use COM2 - see http://www.reslers.de/IBUS/port.html

Then change the port number used in WTT.

I'm also using a USB to serial adapter, then a serial K line adapter, and I'm sure I had to change the COM port number to get it recognised Confused
