Nearly enough for a new bird there Laughing I seem to recall reading about imping (?) where a lost primary is replaced by another feather - this could be pimp my hawk Shocked

Yes that is correct, re "Imping Feathers" It can be done with primaries, tail feathers.

This is where as you say, replacing a broken feather with a whole feather that you save from the yea priors oult. You basically glue in a wooden toothpick, carbon fibre section intot he existing feather shaft and glue the new feather onto the old feather shaft.

This allows you to keep the bird flying through the season.
