Desarzens,

Well, I ordered one last Saturday, after having gone through the same thought process you are having. And although I haven't been around the Disco world all that long, I do find this community encouraging. You feel that, if you do have a problem, you won't be left alone with it.

So I hope you enjoy your drive.

Eric

I will try. Since we expect some snow tomorrow and not knowing what type of tyres the car is fitted with, will see what can be done with the D3 Wink

BN,

I'm not sure that Land Rover Assist stretches out here. Indeed, I asked the dealer about that when I ordered the car and he said that the service is provided by the ADAC (like the AA). How much they will know about Disco3's, I cannot say.

However, at present I am very impressed with the ADAC. After all the nice things I have been saying about my VW Caravelle, yesterday it gave me trouble. Sad The handbrake jammed on. After driving a short distance, the brake discs were red hot, making me look like Michael Schumacher, though I wasn't going quite so fast. The ADAC man banged it free in about five minutes, so I've had the car again since then, though presently without handbrake.

It must be a sign of the times - or old age. On my first Ford, a 1947 Prefect (it wasn't quite new when I bought it for £27 8) - what bit of a Disco can I buy for that?), I expect I would have sorted the problem myself. However, it is now so long since I laid hands on a car, that I call out the professionals for anything.

the service is provided by Mondial assistance, europe-wide, which may be sub-contracted to an ADAC recovery operator

Car delivered mid September 05. Whilst some of the posts on the forum were a little alarming it did not deter me from ordering what is a superb family vehicle. I had not previously owned a Discovery but did have a Defender 110 Td5 for a while so switching to the D3 is like comparing day and night. I have 3 young children to accommodate together with the associated clobber and/or friends and I couldn't think of a vehicle better suited. Haven't covered many miles yet, only 700 or so, but I've had not problems and have no concerns with the car at all, and would thoroughly recommend it.

I have had mine for 9 months now and 12.5K
First issue - Air Con failure - seal replaced - now OK
2nd Fault - Air suspension failure - compressor replaced
3rd Fault - Air suspension failure - sensor replaced

Now getting warning symbols flashing up on start up (tells me virtually everything is at fault) Question - easily cleared by turning of and restarting - system faults not 'hardware' (engine / trans ect) - leaving until service

Taking above into account - would I recommend - absolutley 100% Very Happy

Silver easier to keep clean but black looks better when clean - Ebony leather better than lighter shades to avod stains

Go for it
Now Golf GTI PP, 7 speed DSG.

OK tested it and loved it! Despite a snowy morning with a car fitted with sommer tyres, it was great with the Terrain response on the snow position. Just kept in mind that on braking it is hard to stop an heavy vehicule without proper tyres. But the ride is superb, pneumatic suspension great, engine refined, Logic seven amazing, etc Very Happy

As a result, ordered one that should come end of february/earl march. Can't wait Sad

Hey... mine has a dirty bottom too !

Only pain in this weather with the D3 is that its bum is a dirt magnet and you'll run out of washer fluid just keeping the rear glass clean.

Oh... back to Halfords for more screen wash Smile
