Well I'd imagine the "tolerances" are as high on the TDV8 as they are on the TDV6, allowing for poor quality diesel, not servicing on schedule etc. etc. As such a remap should liberate similar percentages of bhp & torque & improve the mpg slightly 8)
As the on-road manners of the D3 are so good, with some Brembo brakes & a TDV8 it would be an even better all-rounder.
For me the D3 HSE is the perfect combination of luxury & practicality. I'm not worried about filling it with dirty dogs & even dirtier kids, but I don't think I'd feel comfy doing that with the much plusher interior of the FFRR, plus of course it doesn't have the extra seats.
I was told that L/R wouldn't be fitting the TDV8 into the D3 as the FFRR needed an "edge" to stop the D3 HSE stealing sales from the FFRR.
Hopefully in time we will see the TDV8 in the D3. I'd buy one, but probably would never buy a FFRR. Must be others like me.

Wise words Pelyma, the D3 has IMO, a fairly neutral image. It's at home in a muddy field or outside a posh London hotel. It's as "client friendly" as a 4X4 can be nowadays.
Those who know nothing at all about cars just see the massive LAND ROVER decal on the bonnet & L/R doesn't = posh or expensive in their eyes.
Rightly or wrongly the FFRR has a very different image.

Evil or Very Mad Before everyone falls in love with a TDV8 Range Rover I do hope that they have fixed tha transmission design problem. I have posted this before but it is worth saying again.... I bought a brand new Range Rover Vogue March 05 and within months experienced a failed front propshaft splines to differential.... within months of repair it was making noises again.... TDV* or not it isn't much use if the transmission fails!!!

I will stick with my Disco......
