With great respect & much sympathy, you really need good skills & plenty of time, or a fair amount of money to pay a good Indy when necessary and to run any Land Rover, particularly a 14 year old one in need of extensive work.
Please do the maths; don't pour hard earned money into a car which will have little value when rectified. I know, I have been there with a RR Classic many years ago.
Listen to the well respected experts like Disco_Mikey.
Good luck.

The car before the fire would only be worth a couple of grand of so, spending anything on it would be financial madness. Scrap it or strip it & flog off the parts are the only realistic options. IMHNEO (NE = non expert) it would be a complete money pit, no point in throwing good money after bad.

Rarity doesn't necessarily mean value and what things are for sale for is nowhere near as important as what they actually sell for.
Good luck with fixing it.

i can see only 3 manual HSE on autotrader 6k 7k 8k
If i were entitled to a payout they would surely have to give me enough to purchase one of them?
i wonder if i can dispute the non payment due to expired MOT, the car been driving all those years and chooses to catch fire just as MOT expired, also i paid insurance 26 years and never made a claim until now

What does your policy wording say re driving without an MOT? It may say it’s specifically excludes this, ie being driven when not road legal, in which case you’d have a much harder job than if it doesn’t say anything.

I'm not sure if manual transmissions have gearbox looms.
I think they must have, but specific manual version.
It's just below the windscreen so, likely bad.
I think driving it without MOT, probably upsets the insurance. But read small print

I think you need to jack up the front (safely)
And understand if there is damage under the car
Remove gearbox shield and you can look up rear of engine.

I can not see any small print i looked through all documentation.
I have been looking at Hastings direct on forums and they are worst company out of 48 according to which and others, i didnt realise i was insured with lying cheating gangsters, they had my car 2 weeks and not done engineers assessment yet despite telling me they done it and its a total loss.
It seems Hastings Direct do whatever they can to get out of paying and every one ends up going to ombudsman
Some South African guy owns it so i am not surprised, anyone remember the b side to the spitting image chicken song?
