If you have the load barrier fitted you can attach it to that.
I just used two large washers and fastened it through.

+1 for load barrier i have mine higher up (its a smaller bottle) so it can be reached from the rear.

oh, stating the obvious but they are a weight so must be attached to the Rear of the load barrier!

jonno1 - which fire extinguisher is that ? I must confess I'm a little apprehensive about mounting it there; it could be very dangerous flying around the car in the case of an accident.

If mounting in the front footwell, under the passengers feet, do you drill through the floor; as i have done on my MGB GT ?

Couple of points,

... unless properly mounted they are a hazard in an accident, flying around and killing you!

... small sized ones are for small fires, but mostly for putting you and your passengers out if you make it out of a burning car

... don't try and put out a car fire... unless you know what you are doing

I have one, mounted to dog guard, used cable ties rather than screws, but still solid.

If it were loose then I would agree. However it is a very tight fit in that hole and requires a good tug to remove it. I think it is a Screwfix one.

I have two bolted to the rear cargo divider with quick release velcro holding them in place to prevent them becoming missiles in an accident. I also have a safety hammer fitted on the divider and under the driver seat.

I've been involved in two car fires and used them successfully to put the fires out safely. However, I was trained to put fires out when I worked in the oil industry. I've also been in a car that rolled and came to rest on its roof, hence the safety hammers and extra security to prevent missiles!
