towing a caravan

I towed our caravan with the Disco3 and in my opinion this is the best vehicle to pull anything.

Even towed a tall trailer box full of all our household items when moving from Northampton to Essex. I always had to remind myself there was something attached to the back of the car.

One time in Poland went to rescue a family member after Merc 190 broke down, just pulling away was just enough to pull the front bumper clean off and this was going up a steep gradient.

Definitely the car to tow anything with. Been across to Poland twice from Hook of Holland and no problems with overtaking either, enough power and confidence.

This is a story that didn't end well, unfortunately. Stepping away from anything Land Rover shaped for a while until we've moved house and know how expensive it's all going to be, then will be on the hunt for a nice D3 or even maybe a 4.

The moral is, don't trust people just because they're old and seem friendly!

Sorry to hear of your experience. Still, there aren’t going to be very many Cinderella D3s around - the youngest vehicle is roughly 10 years old soon - and plenty of ones that’ll turn into a pumpkin or lemon. Whistle

Like with any investment, the total cost of ownership will need to be estimated in a realistic fashion instead of a “blue sky” scenario. On a complex, used vehicle the operations & maintenance costs will still be in line with what they were originally even if the price of the vehicle is not.

Thanks, I have perfectly realistic expectations of running costs. The D3 isn't even close to being one of the more expensive cars that I've chosen to run and will continue to do so. I just decided that it was not economically viable to repair this one, so let it live on in someone else's hands or broken to keep others on the road for longer for less.
