First time D3 owner

Quick hello from me.

Well, I’ve come close to D3 ownership a few times and looked at several examples over the past 3years, and I’ve finally joined the fold by default. Each time I’ve come close I’ve ended up back in an L322, but an imminent company car resulted in a for sale advert for our TDV8 with the intention of pulling some money out and buying a fairly cheap D3 for fully loaded family duties. Deal done, I’ve taken this very early S as a part exchange. It’s a well-kept example and I like it.

I’m sure I’ll be on asking advice and helping out where I can. Issue #1, find out why the radio has stopped powering up after a vigorous valeting!

Looks like you bagged a tidy disco there, very nice.
I noticed your from N.Yorks, keep an eye out on the meeting thread I’m going to try and organise a get together at the tees barrage, would be nice to catch up.

Lol have not changed my profile details yet, I moved to Ingleby back end of last year. Will keep an eye out for your motor, I’m driving around in a silver D3 with D4 HSE alloys and a forum sticker on the rear.
Thumbs Up

There is an issue with the head unit suffering from water ingress. Mine went dead for a few weeks and is now CD/Aux only.

Thanks, I'll try to get around to investigating the problem this weekend. The problem with having no radio is that there's no way of drowning out all the other potentially ruinous noises!

Not sure if I saw you today, did you turn left just before the fox covert heading towards Hilton about 11am?
I was parked just before turn in, not in the disco tho.

There's a fairly good chance that was me, as I was heading off that way just before lunch.

Nice looking D3. I'm heading your way tomorrow with the caravan staying at the white water caravan site near Tees Barrage.

Thanks, I'm really not a fan of the D4 rear lights, but I'm not sure I hate them enough to be bothered swapping them out just yet.

I'm looking forward to seeing how this gets on with our caravan soon.

If you want D3 lights I would be happy to swap mine over Wink

They are great for towing. I won't say you don't know the caravan is there, however the D3 certainly handles it with ease

Haha, nice try!

We never got around to using the L322 for towing due to a variety of reasons, so the benchmark has been set by the Mondeo we had before. I'm quite sure the D3 will compare favourably!

Lol it was worth a try.

I used to tow with a 55 plate Mondeo until it was written off. The Disco certainly feels more stable when towing.im sure you won’t be disappointed

There's what feels like TC judder so looks like I'll have to get that looked at before going anywhere with the caravan.

Bit of a pain as the idea was that this would be cheap, otherwise we'd have waited and bought the spec we wanted (admittedly for more money). I've had lots of Land Rovers so I realise D3 ownership is not going to be a cheap and stable ride, but it's easier to stomach when it's a car you've specifically gone out and bought because you want it, rather than accepted through convenience! Such is life.

Unfortunately the words “Discovery 3” and “cheap” should never be used in the same sentence without “not” in the middle. Big Cry Big Cry Big Cry
