Just fitted a witter R39 to mine.
The witter instructions state that post 2008 cars don't have the bolt fitted so they provide bolts and sleves to go through the chasis.
Also note that the kit doesn't come with the tow ball bit.

Thanks so much for that Zebedee. It's nice to know it's not just that I've got an individual problem car, so can follow it up with the dealership too. I wonder if these items get fitted if the car has the "Towpack Ready" option as the dealer put it when I asked before we bought it. I wonder if Witter have developed something. cos it is now obvious that the R39 is not suitable for 2008.5 MY onwards..

Having thought about it, I'd say that the keyhole slot is to allow the sleeve to be popped into the chassis rail & then drop down to line up with the hole, on the inside of the rail.
I’m curious to know if LR have an updated hitch kit with the bolt & sleeve etc included for 08.5MY vehicles. Or for that matter, can they supply the necessary bits, for those with the hitch fitted already & want to swap onto a new D3 ??
I intend to find out during the week & as I say, I’ll update on my findings.

Thanks for the info RichieP, can you confirm whether the extra bolts and sleeves were in with the R39 pack, or do you need to ask Witter to supply them as an extra?

In the pack with mine - sat on the shelf now.... The instructions are written for pre and post 2008 models and all the bits included - just one version of the R39.
Have I mentioned that the tow ball is NOT included in a R39 pack....

Just to confirm that I have sucessfully fitted the R39 towbar this afternoon, no problems at all. The kit does include sleeves and long bolts with nyloc nuts for the chassis rails. SO slightly different to the threaded bush on the pre-2008MY vehicles, but works the same.

And... I bought a towball too! As Richard pointed out, the kit doesn't include the towball, but it did have a Witter black towball cover...
