United Kingdom 2006 Discovery 3 TDV6 SE Auto Zambezi SilverDiscovery 3

Thanks for the pictures Alan. Good way of using the bike rack too - must think about that one now. Gotta get 5 bikes on the disco with caravan on tow - three up top and two on the towbar keeping in mind the 150kg nose weight, or perhaps 2 top + 3 on back.

How many bikes do people get on the back while towing?

I have the optional towpack fitted and can confirm that it is the swan neck, removable type that you get unless you specifically ask for the adjustable version. According to the car's handbook, the centre of the swan neck's towball is 409mm (16.1 in.) above the ground with the suspension at normal height so it should be fine for most caravans and trailers.

The swan neck is stowed behind the panel in the left hand side of the loadspace but beware, it is very heavy, is a tight fit and takes some removing and replacing. It is also very easy to dislodge the fuses for the towbar electrics whilst removing the towbar from its stowage as they are fitted right above it so, if after connecting your trailer/caravan, something is not working, check the fuses!
Now an ex-D3 owner after 7 happy years. Miss the car but not the big bills Smile

My removable hitch is stored on the back of the car Laughing Don't do what I did and lay it between the load liner and the side of the car - it fits but knocks hell out of the interior Embarassed
