flickering amber brake warning light and annoying "bing"!

I had a long journey recently and the brake warning light (amber, no.31 on the attached pic) came on and off intermittently and then later turned red. I stopped and checked the brake fluid which had dipped to just below the min mark. I topped the reservoir back up to max and carried on. The red light went away but the amber one would alternate between flickering on and off (with a 'bing' everytime!) being on solidly and being off (for up to an hour). After looking around later i found a slow drip from one of the front calipers. I tightened the nut and it seems to have stopped (2 days later and still dry) but the random light problems persist.

The flickering makes me think it might be a dodgy wiring/contact but i really don't know. It's very annoying so any help/advice would be great!

There are two brake sensors, one on the front and one on the rear. These detect the wear on the brake pads, so at least the front or rear or both need replacing.
