Fog Lamp Cowlings

Sorry if this sounds like a silly question but been fiddling with my fog lights (actually swapped them for some LED / DRL ones) and it realy looks like the inner 'hole' for the lamp on the removable cowlings is blocking a lot of the lamp periphery.
Has anyone trimmed this back to better match the lamp housing ? Thumbs Up Morris Dancers: Drinkers with A Dance Problem
