Why would they need to track where you go, they know where you live and presumably where you park your car at night?
That makes more sense. I couldn’t figure out their MO if it was a tracker.
Do you think this relates to keyless entry (guessing not as D3 )
So probably capturing the code from remote unlocking?

That's very interesting.
I wonder if plod can find out who registered the sim or possibly where or how it was topped up? Mods:

you're too far away otherwise i'd take it off you and post some interesting videos later.
ok … i'm going to assume your SWMBO isn't having you tracked so go to the police and tell them what happened. it's more interesting than pure car theft so plod might just do something. .

That is one expensive box for someone to attach to your car for no reason.
Probably best to tell the police - they may well already be dealing with this crime.
They may set up a sting operation. They will also be able to get the SIM details and find out how it was paid for (if at all).
Wrap the box very well in foil or put it in a metal box to stop it transmitting anything or leave it stationary so it doesn't trigger and send out an alert.
If someone has targeted your car for whatever reason, I'd be tempted to simply stick that box somewhere else - like on the Euston to Glasgow train, a supermarket delivery lorry, a refuse truck, UPS van - something thats going to keep them busy!
The problem is if they remembered to note the number is and know it was put on your car on your drive - they know where the car is going to be sometime in the future. A Disklock is probably a good idea. Current : Discovery 4 HSE (2012 spec)

Thanks for the input guys. It's definaty a tracker as I've found the identical one on Google, it has a push button on the back which tell the scrotes if it is removed / falls off so they know something is up.
I've bagged it ready for the police when they eventually turn up!
Hopefully they can track positions from the SIM card.
Police say it would have been pinched to order and I'm not sure if they thought it was a D4 as I've changed the grill.

Have you had your car washed at a car valeters, or parked at an airport parking whereby you have handed over your keys in the last few weeks?

Definately a GPS tracking device.....
http://www.vjoycar.com/gps-tracker-battery...acker.html
As above they will have obtained or programmed a key for your vehicle somehow....they place these on it to make it easy to steal when you are in a public place...
You need to urgently get your keys reprogrammed and the original keys deleted...alternatively fit an aftermarket car alarm and or a Ghost immobiliser....
PM me if you need further advice!

That's good advice Farmer Chalk thanks.
I never use a car wash but there has been high levels of car thefts in my area lately.
I'll get a price on reprogramming and give you a shout if I'm unsure.

It may have nothing to do with stealing the car, but about knowing when you’re out of the house.
