Bump.

Or, recommend me a new one that will do the job (ie general 12V and 240v fault finding and testing duties) for about £40

Bang for Buck.....The Brymen BM235 is a good one I think, but over double your budget Embarassed (£86.50 or more on amazon). From a safety aspect (particularly when using it for 240vAC mains) it pays not to go too cheap.....some Flukes etc are over £400... Thumbs Up

For 240v use I would certainly recommend a decent set of fused leads, mainly from the safety aspect

£40 will buy some reasonable quality meters have a look at http://www.test4less.co.uk/electrical/mult...rder=price or http://isswww.co.uk/multimeter-products/mu...rder=price I buy from these companies but in a slightly different price bracket but there are plenty of well known names in your price bracket that will be more than adequate for occasional use

Smile I've got a Fluke 77, new in 1985. Fab thing. Another one the same would do the job but not at my budget, just missed out on a 75 on eBay tonight.

Well, I received this Martindale today, it seems pretty good and ideal for my needs, a well-made quality item for about £35.
