Front brake caliper anchor plate removal |
|
Guys
I am planning to change my front pads and discs, I have been on the GTR site and it does not have the info I need.
To remove the disc you need to remove the brake caliper anchor plate and it is held on by two bolts, question is, what size and type of socket do I need to get them off, my largest socket (19mm) is too small.

Thanks for the tip, I have already found this, and the thread on changing front pads, both are missing the step of removing the caliper anchor plate, the bolts are quite large, and are way bigger than 17mm.
I once observed someone changing the front disc and you can't get it off with the anchor plate on, he tried, I just wish I had asked for the size of tools required at the time....

Ah Ok
Maybe if you get it sorted you could update the threads with all the information and maybe update Site Wiki as well I believe that every human has a finite number of heart-beats. I don't intend to waste any of mine running around doing exercises.

I think the bolts you mean are 21mm bi-hex. Torque is quite high I believe, hope you have some scaffold tube to undo, and a big torque wrench to do up again.

By the way, according to GTR, torque is 203 lb ft
Are you sure on the 21mm bi-hex, I am about to buy from e-bay... or should I wait to ask Nick on Monday?

Make sure you use lock tight on these bolts as was used when they were first assembled in the factory
