Front end clonk

Ok, so as you can see from the title, I am very technically minded.... So need some help!

2013 D4 - 55K miles

Front end now "clonks" going over any speed bumps or along bumpy road. I could take it to local LR garage (in SW London) but no doubt I will get the full sucking of teeth, so wondered if someone could enlighten me as to what needs fixing and what cost I might expect from an independent.

I did notice another thread on here
https://www.disco3.co.uk/forum/front-ns-lo...84634.html

and wondered if this might be the same thing?

If you do have a suggestion for parts and a garage that I can use, I'd hugely appreciate.

Front lower arms most likely culprit. You'll need something like this https://www.advancedfactors.co.uk/kit630-h...9007-p.asp

Yes to the 2nd question. I'd have thought you'd be looking at a couple of hours per side for an indi to do it. Round here that would be about £300 but could well be more where your are.

Remember you will also need to get a 4 wheel alignment completed after the work, if the garage don’t do it as part of the work Thumbs Up

It may be worth checking the Anti Roll bar bushes as they gave a clunk you describe when worn on my D3, also lower steering column UJ loose.

+1 Start there. Cheap as chips.

Car has relatively few miles for the control arms to be shot. I've just done mine at 95k. I've changed ARBs on my others at around 40-50k and that's stopped the knocking. Start there.

My D4 has its fronts changed at around 50k, and they have just been done again at just over 100k.

before you spend lots check lower steering colum UJ if not developed a play in UJ itslef or it is sitting loos on steering rack shaft which would also make clonk
