Front fog lights and sensors |
|
Hi Guys
I asked my local land rover dealers to sort me out some fog light and front sensors for my disco 3 as I have the S model and was told that I would also have to replace the front bumper but they have faild to price me up the items and i have no idea who to ask next.
Please read message below.
Thanks
Pilot
Reference your enquiry for upgrading your Discovery III with front foglights and front parking sensors.
It is possible to fit them at Dealers and wire everything in ready for operation. However, remembering back to previous enquiries for the same, once fit the lamps and sensors cannot be ‘switched on’ / activated so to speak as codes are required from Land Rover to tell the vehicle ECU the parts have been fitted, allowing the software to operate them.
Land Rover will not release the codes required to any main dealer as it is deemed that the original factory specification of the car is being altered. This is not the case for accessories, but for options that can only be specified from factory at original point of sale it is the case.
We have been asked the same before and it was the case then and is still policy now.
I have not priced the items you asked for, for now, as naturally you may wish to reconsider.
Please let me know if I can be of any more help, or ring 01282 723758 if you need the above clarifying.
Thank you
Kind Regards,

What MY.. we talking as on my 05/55 the enable is not required as the circuits & plugs already exist and work to retro for front fogs, many have done this on here with no issues. As for PDC sensors I recall that again on certain MY all already exists to retro fit and they work....
As for enabling if you are an unlucky sole then contact either Wiggs or TFC who can help.

As can I .... Check the wiring is there for the front PDC, there should be two connectors with blanking plugs fitted beneath the O/S headlight unit. One for the front fogs (new lighting control switch required, no config) and one for the front PDC (centre console switch pack required plus config)

I wouldn't buy the parts from helpful Hillendales , I'd buy them from Nick(TLO) at Yeovil. You don't need a new bumper BTW, there are 'cut out' lines marked on the inside of the bumper for fog lights etc, if you are handy at things like that.

Easy to do yourself
Easy to remove the bumper and then you will see the outline for the cut out
