Front lower arms half a days labour? |
|
Just been quoted 4hrs labour @ £65 to change both lower front arms. The arms are £222.
All comes to £578 with the v.a.t.
Half a day seems a bit excessive for 6 bolts and an alignment or am I tooo cynical.

My gut feel is that isn't an unreasonable price for both lower front arms + alignment. Actually sounds pretty good...
I did a quick search and came up with the below, which might put your mind at ease a bit.

Caveated - I am not an expert
However I've looked through my D3's maintenance log and it's had new front lower arms several times in the 250k miles we've had it. On their own they seem to have been roughly £500 (though last done a couple of years ago), and sometimes combined with other jobs (like rear arms too) the cost has been nearer £1k.
Good luck, and enjoy the new arms

As a customer I usually factor in about £650-700 for the front lower arms.
The Meyle HD kit from Advanced Factors is £377.00 inc vat.
4 hours is believable if the bolts are seized. £260.00
4 wheel/Hunter Alignment is at least £70.00

I'm not sure how long my lower arms took but I did mine on the driveway plus new pads all round in less than a day including bacon sarnies and tea breaks

Didn't take any pics and no siezed bolts
