Front Protection Bar
I'm thinking of fitting a Front Protection bar as shown below. Are these easily available (seen a few in various galaries of D3 owners) and any idea re costs???
Yes they're available from dealers in winch compatible and non winch versions. TFC and me have them, take a look in our galleries. About £300 ISTR but I got mine at the same time as my D3 so the price may have changed in the last 15 months

Many thanks, I'll give my dealer a shout. I'd seen something sticking out from the front of your D3 on the tow truck then had a look at various gallaries. Could find the bars on the LR Aus website but not UK so thought it might be export only.
That one is type approved and air bag compatible. AFAIK the law only prevents manufacturers from factory fitting them. Mine was dealer fitted from new, I'm sure they wouldn't have done so if it wasn't legalThe End

how do you get on with the parking sensors with the bullbars fitted?
I was looking at the Landrover A frame plastic one, it does come with kit to extend the parking sensors, but Im not sure how much extra protection it will afford.2004 TDV6 HSE Auto Zambezi Silver

3. Ken Livingstone
4. Pedestrians
5. Bulls
6. More Ramblers

All valid targets apart from... 4 and 5
Not many bulls on the roads these days though... swans on the M25 maybe
But the issue with these things is that they completely negate the designed in safety features as well as the pedestrian and vehicle on vehicle crumple zones the front of the D3 has (or any vehicle fitted with one).
Its the only thing that I (personally) have an issue with being fitted to the front of a vehicle unless it is for herding cattle (greenpiss, ramblers, Red Kens included here).
A guy I know of had his neck broken after being hit by a bull bar equipped pick up. Without it fitted he would still be walking as he would have only had his legs broken.

DSL,
Have you thought about a A-Frame protection bar??
I personal think the A-Frame is nicer.
Your welcome to come and have alook at the one i've just fitted to mine.
I don't have front PDC, TFC has though and the outer pair still work fine, the inner pair are disabled but would probably work okay if repostioned
Looks don't come into it, I have the nudge bar (LR sell it as a Nudge Bar in the UK, Brush Bar in the US and Bull Bar in Australia AFAIR) for off road protection, it's the bottom section I really want, I'd be quite happy if the upper center 'hoop' wasn't there. The hard rubber A bar does not give the same level of low down protection. The End

I would certainly have an A frame fitted...I had one on my D2 ...it's got a soft rubber outer so is relatively ped friendly. And I take your point Simon but disagree somewhat.... the OEM bars are tested to ensure that airbag deployment is unaffected and I can't imagine that no consideration is given to crash dynamics too.21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021

Chris, its mainly to protect against parking knocks. Where I park in Cardiff spaces can be quite tight and cars will sometimes use the Parisian Method of getting out (back..... bump, forward....... bump, etc). Tow hook helps at the back, was looking for something for front. Thought this particular bar looked best for that.
