I read on the forum that the fuel tank has an 82 litres capacity, a road tester said the same thing recently.
My manual says 86 litres, Is the OZ tank different to UK (I doubt it would be)
Has anyone had a diesel/gas conversion done on their D3

Hi Norto
Yes I have had a conversion on my D3 last December.
It do not think it is very common in the UK mine has taken some
reprogramming to get it working OK as far as economy goes & I believe there is still another software update to come.
At present around town mpg has gone from 17/18 to 22/23mpg,
motorway driving from 27/28 to 32/34mpg,
towing my 1700kg caravan to Scotland I got 27/28mpg.
Engine is quieter, power is definitely improved if that is what you want.
Hope this helps, I will try & answer any other questions you may have.

...how low you dare or let the tank go deermines just how much you can get in.
only run bone dry once & got 86.3 litre in maybe that will vary as to the level the Disco is at when you fill
but you can depend on the pump filling accuracy
I wouldnt have thought the manufacturing tolerances of the tank would give a large variation - but the fual guage is wildly innacurate & not that repeatable. BREXIT - done properly.

How did you get the car started again. I was told by the stealers that this would require priming the injectors with a test book .

I was stopped...the whole thing just died...D3's dont go without diesel...
I had 10 litres in the two containers I always carry
poured this in & started up - no coughing or spluttering - a couple of slight lurches on driving away..
Then straight to a filling (about 200 mtres away - that close !)
the combination of what the pump dispensed & the 10 litres made up the 86.3
What you have said about having to use testbook to get the injectors reprimed is a worry....
Is this the case has test book got to be used ???
The D2 five cylinder Storm engine set up had a priming procedure - a bit of a beeger if you were stuck in the middle of a road junction (with people blasting their hooters at you) but it did work.
When the light comes on now I know just how much further I can go - if there is a chance I wont make it I put the 10 litres in & drive straight towards the nearest diesel fill point...
Buddies tell me Im doing this all wrong & should keep the tank full by always filling at the 3/4s point - frequent small bills instead of the Kings ransom amount for a complete fill....I see the point but it is a bit of an inconvenience... BREXIT - done properly.

Can't remember who advocated small fills frequently for the not paying a fortune feeling but life's too short to spend so much more time at the forecourt. I only pay one bill a month for fuel (and most other stuff), the credit card bill. It makes no odds to me to have one page or three, it's the same amount to pay!

I queried the owners manual with the stealers because it states that you must never run the car dry as this can damage the cat etc etc. I was told that if the car runs dry that the injectors will need to be primed using the test book - maybe you stopped and didn't try to crank the car again before putting fuel in ? .
This may have meant that there was still diesel in the fuel line and you got lucky that there was no air lock ?

depends on where you live and the climate. a fuller tank will have less evaporation so I'm told

Also if leaving the car for a while there is no condensation in the tank if full.

heine as I understand it, the D3 will shut down the engine when at this stage to prevent any damage and should still have an amount of fuel in it. the wise will correct me if I'm wrong
