Nah, not 55mph. 65mph, which is only 5mph below the national speed limit. Bloody trucks get in the way and middle lane hoggers doing 66mph.
Although I cant help the right foot sometimes. Something urgent about 300hp / and nearly 6000 rpm in a 13year old car. So smooth......was that a bottom end noise?
Fuel is small cost compared to depreciation. (Lost 33.5k on a car over 21,000miles / 3.5years)
The reason for the interest is that the 4.4V8 is a pretty impressive unit.

Doing 120 km/h which is the limit here truck drivers stay in the right hand lane with the tractors where they drive at most 100 km/h, usually 80 km/h.

In the UK you see lots of car drivers driving at the exact same speed as the trucks trying to get max mpg, thing is mixing it with the trucks is a dangerous place to be at any time.
I reckon over the last 10/15 years the average speed of traffic in the UK has dropped dramitically.
The only way I can match journey times of 10/15 years ago it to travel at night/very early hours.

Ok, I understand now
Here we have a problem, usually in the winter, with foreign (usually Eastern European) trucks - their tires are totally - most likely nowhere near road legal - and that can’t make it up long inclines but block all traffic. It’s every winter the same.
We, too, have more vehicles on the roads than 20 years ago... I try to drive outside the rush hours. On Sunday morning I could drive to work in 22 min and during the week in rush hour it takes 55-65 minutes.

I reckon if you asked log burner drivers if they would like a V8 there would be a few, ask V8 drivers if they wanted a log burner it would be none! 05 V8 HSE Bonatti Grey

On Cali highways were speed limit can be 75-90 mph, its a smooth drive on the D3 V8 you can't even feel it when you are going 90 to 100mph. D3 2005 V8 SE Bonatti Grey "The Rhino" (our NYC D3)

Agreed - the acceleration is completely effortless.
Only when you put the pedal to the metal (use kickdown) does it create some mad burbling noisesound.
