Just out of interest. I purchased my disco in December. The first job was to blank the egr's so no idea on the mpg before this or their impact. After a couple of weeks i was surprised to find 22mpg calculated by litres used and mileage covered. On investigating things further i found the o/s rear brake was binding (noticed by that special hot brake smell after a run). New rear calipers fitted and i have noticed an imediate improvement to 25.72 mpg on the first tank through. This is on a mixture of A and B roads and most of it consisting of the daily commute of 15 miles. I am also not the most economical driver (heavy right foot).
The gearbox is being flushed by Geoff in March and then hopefully a BAS remap so we will see how things go. 55 Plate Disco 3 HSE. EGR blanked, Decat exhaust, AMK Compressor, bought 20 Dec 13. Watch this space for future upgrades. - Disco 4 front cup holders, D4 Bluetooth, Brembo 4 pot front V8 rear brakes, front diff breather mod, BAS FBH controller, fixed towbar, D4 heated washer jets
Silicone intercooler hoses, RS 500 Intercooler, decat exhaust, remap
IID tool used to enable 3 flash indicators, clock on dash, reverse follow me home lights, snotm, AMK compressor update and still learning
55 mph probably is about best, it depends a bit which way is blowing. Definitely don't exceed 70, try to stay below 65, aim for 55 - 60.
Below 55 and you're barely going fast enough for 6th gear!Lightweight Land Rovers have the quirk factor!
Yeah, you can drive that slowly, but it is boring after a bit.
Its a 3tonne brick, so its never going to win any economy run awards Mark.

Going up takes a 1/3 more fuel ???
Coming home is downhill D4 Front upgrade/cut back wings n things 'taking a long time but getting there'.
D4 rear upgrade - Narpys helped with that bit
Flack for problem solving and D4 Bluetooth Install/ D4 Heated Steering wheel with Flappy paddles n BBS enabling kit
Disco Mikeys work - Serviced, EGR blanking and 4x4 software upgrade, 3 flash indicators.

Today I drove the D3 from Somerset to Perth in Scotland, 450 miles. I kept to 60mph and even turned the air con off most of the way as I didn't need it. Trip computer reports 34.9mph, although I expect that when I work out the actual which can as I filled up in Perth it will be less as we all know the Trip computer is optimistic,Autologic remap, Superpro front lower bushes. Privacy Glass. 4x4 info enabled. Now sitting on Michelin Cross Climate SUV tyres. New Borg Warner turbo Nov 2014. Recon gearbox 2019.

I think my '06 manual is doing ok on the mpg. Took this screen shot lastnight!!!!
Yes it's reading 282.5 MPG!!!!
It did fall back to a more normal 30.1mpg after a while
Last fill it read range 605 miles
So I'll see what it really does this tank

Just got back from a trip to Scotland, mountaineering, and Northern Lights as a bonus! Did about 1500 miles. I got just over 30mpg on the long slogs up and down the M5/M6 at a steady 65mph, bit boring at that speed but reasonably fuel consumption. D3 was perfect, a real pleasure to drive and incredibly competent.Autologic remap, Superpro front lower bushes. Privacy Glass. 4x4 info enabled. Now sitting on Michelin Cross Climate SUV tyres. Returned from France last week 454 miles door to door mainly motorways and I was pleasantly surprised at a reading of 32.3 mpg cruise control on at 70 mph.

Only been recording mpg for the last 4000mls, got one of those apps that you input price per litre, how many litres at fill up, mileage. Averaged 28.3mpg , 1500mls of those towing up to 3 ton. never exceed 70 on motorways and 60 on A roads
p.s also use 500ml of 2SO on each full tank William

I have measured mine over 18,518 miles.
I have tried, 2SO, cheap fuel, super fuels ( Ultimate/V power ) careful driving etc.
My average also takes into account off roading and daily driving etc.
My running average is 23.11 mpg...
So, nothing really makes much of a difference.
I shall later this year up the power and torque with remap and such and report back.

Fueled up and straight onto A1 to Northumberland last week. Cruised at 70MPH - didn't use cruise control, changed gear when required to maintain momentum, consciously thinking about economy; after 94 miles computer showed 38.4 MPG! Trip back showed 34 MPG. Every day around town I get about 26 MPG. I have never had less than 24MPG I have a 2007 manual D3 with 70K and full FSH. My Navara got 20MPG in town and never better than 31 on the motorway at 60 MPH. I wonder what difference taking my roof bars off would make? I love this vehicle...apart from the temperamental parking sensors!07 D3 SE manual. Mods: Rear LEDs, clearside repeaters, front grill.

i'm getting approx. ~15L/100km, that translates to 15.7 MPG!
Can someone tell me what I'm doing wrong? I'm very light on the peddles!
Btw I have a 2008 LR3 SE V6 w/ 72,000km (~45k miles)

Running the petrol V8 With LPG and having used road trip to monitor fuel for the last few thousand miles mixed use towing horse boxes, country lanes and last weekend 430 miles of motorway work I am getting 32 mpg equivalent on a run and 28.6 around town so not to upset at all now I have read all of your oil burning numbers. And I don't have timing belts, turbos and all those other diesel headaches, love it.
Last weekends run using two full tanks gave me just over 30MPG at a "reasonable" motorway speed as said its nice to know what you are getting and keeping an eye on it may help you to pick up a brake starting to drag a little etc. but when you buy a disco your not buying for economy.
Oh and we all should be aware if not already that the on board fuel calculation is optimistic shall we say.
Yes Robbie owning the straight V8 without the LPG would account for it in your pocket over here for sure
But I do like the refinement of the V8 and the ability to take those gaps on roundabouts without a delay in pick up. Her indoors wants me to get a noisier exhaust though as she misses the burble of her 5.7 litre vette.
