I have heard of a problem with the fuel pump in the tank getting blocked by rubbish.
You haven't damaged your tank have you.

Any fault codes to play with as yet?
P2290 is, as said, low fuel pressure pre HPFP, so if that code is stored, then start looking at blocked filter, weak Low Pressure pump, or blocked pipe up inside the tankMy D3 Build Thread

Not for a couple of weeks!
cw, stripping the tank & cleaning the filter in there is a possibility. What person (was going to say idiot) thought a filter inside a fuel tank was a good idea? Dont think I've damaged my tank during the odd bit of light

Had similar prblems two weeks ago.Hoofed it up along hill, car was going like a train, next moment "ping" and in limp mode with lots of smoke When I started it again, everything was back to normal.Got the following fault codes;P0331,P132B & P0003.The car whent in to the stealer as it was due for a service with a request that they attend to this problem,as the car is running out of MP They found nothing wrong I haven't had time to test it,and are not happy with theire reply Very interested in the outcome of your problem!!
P0003 points to a pressure problem, the question is where/what is causing it

DSL.
Has anyone ran datalogger on this whilst being driven? If so do you know what the fuel pressures and demand are doing when it starts playing up?

No data logger been run, if dealer needs to do that then that's fine. No idea re pressure but demand will be high as it dies with full throttle, usually heavily laden accelerating up fairly substantial incline.

The reason i ask is because i know of 3 over the past few years with similar problems to yours that it been caused by the engine ecu.I will have a chat with my mate and see if he can remember the exact symtoms and diag path and get back to you.

Genuine filter?? ENGINE SYSTEM FAULT on the dash display?? That to me would look like turbo VVT failure like I've just had. Problem is there are a few issues that give similar problems/symptoms.
