Genuine filter?? ENGINE SYSTEM FAULT on the dash display?? That to me would look like turbo VVT failure like I've just had. Problem is there are a few issues that give similar problems/symptoms. Big Cry Big Cry

that was exaxtly my symptoms and root cause in 2009 with this d3

When it happens, have you tried stopping straight away and removing the filler cap, is the tank under vacume. Not sure if it is the same on the D3 but when I worked in motor trade 20 years ago, we had lots of issues with Audi 80/90's with blocked vents on the fillwe caps. Under long drives the fuel was sucked out of tank but air not allowed back in, as such tank came under vacume and there was afuel starvation, remove cap to large sucking noise Whistle and car ran fine again. Might be talking complete boll*** but just a thought. Thumbs Up

Car was just filled in Tesco Inverness & shut down 4 miles on so pressure would have had to build up very quickly. Can try it next time. Thumbs Up

My dealer is changing one of the the EGR's as a result of my ESF - P2290 code - I think they hope it will go away - or I will anyway - but that ain't going to happen any time soon, unless it is sorted Rolling with laughter

I suspect the LP pump or blocked filter, though mine always seems to be when there is a change of load - ie change gear - but I can't be 100% sure the last ones were TBH.

Don't think mine had it's hussy fit at gear change but it's difficult to tell. Guava certainly didn't have any EGR related fault codes, just turbo ones. Have read reports that some, cars shut down with no fault codes stored. Big Cry Big Cry

IIRC the vacuum building up in fuel tanks is a design feature for many petrol cars, which allows air to be drawn back through the charcoal filled emissions canister that catches un-burnt fuel vapour from the intake manifold immediately after switch off. All my Volvo's from 1990 onwards have had this feature, with a solenoid valve that switches the canister input between the manifold and the outside air depending if engine running or not. The canister output always heads to the tank. I've never heard of a vacuum being a requirement in diesels, but I'm prepared to be surprised.

Our current V40 (petrol) makes a sound like a washing repairman sucking air between teeth before a particularly inflated quote when you undo the cap straight after driving.

Transgenic tomato anyone?

Apart from the sharp intake of breath from SWMBO at the impending £120 hole in the bank account Whistle
I know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? And if it's not ok, still no.
