Just booked into the Main dealers for 1st Service, and the sent me an email offering a "fuel treatment trio"
Quote:I would also like to bring to your attention that we are offering a fantastic fuel treatment trio that will give you an increased and GUARANTEED MPG, or YOUR MONEY BACK; (for the fuel treatment only!)
These products wash out the carbon build up in the vehicle engine, clean out the oils and add an oil conditioner treatment that will keep the engine running smoothly, more efficiently with an improved MPG.
In addition, you will be given a FREE ENGINE PROTECTION PLAN which covers the following items:
ENGINE
· Pistons and Rings
· Wrist Pins and Bushings
· Rods and Rod Bearings
· Camshafts and Bearings
· Pushrods
· Intake Valves and Guides (grinding adjustments excluded)
· Turbo Bearings
· Crankshaft Bearings
· Cylinder Liners or Bores
· Valve Lifters
· Timing Chains (timing belts and damage to engine parts due to broken timing belts excluded)
· Rocker Arms and Pivots
· Oil Pump
· Timing Gears or Sprockets
· Distributor Drive Gear
Fuel System Components
· Oxygen Sensors
· PCV
· Injectors
· (Deposit-related malfunctions only)
The price of this money saving Fuel Treatment Trio is £69.99 (incl VAT)
Car is only 12months and 7000 miles old so I have no intention of going for it, but what is everyones opinion on these services. Are they recommended or just another way for dealers to make money?

FREE ENGINE PROTECTION - aka 'Warranty'
If you are interested in fuel additives - £70 will buy a lot of 2SO / Millers etc.

How long is the "FREE ENGINE PROTECTION PLAN" for.
12 months or lifetime?

WTF is this - sounds like something that used to be offered in the 1980/90s.......?? and some of us fell for it...!!
What goes around comes around (probably from some LR 'Jolly' - someone is trying to re-invent the wheel)...... with todays advanced fuels, especially the premium pumps - I'm thinking this is another nonsense..... 2016MY Discovery HSE - Black

Just think how much you would save if you took it to an Indy, and not a main dealer for its 1st service My D3 Build Thread

It will be a tin of whatever magic potion they pour into the fuel tank.
The question I would ask yourself is, how many hauliers use any of these magic treatments in their trucks?

So is the perceived wisdom that something like Millers Diesel Ecomax is not needed in a D4?
